Mass clear out at Dynamos

Sport Reporter

DYNAMOS fans have expressed mixed feelings after the culling of 13 players from the squad that finished third last season.

Club captain, Partson Jaure, is also among seven players whose contracts will not be renewed after they expired on New Year’s Eve.

From the Prince Edward Academy juniors, only Junior Makunike will remain at Dynamos, while the other three will return to their parent club.

Martin Ofori and Evans Katema still have running contracts, but DeMbare indicated that their services will be terminated.

Trevor Mavhunga is also set to leave after the club stated that he rejected the offer tabled to him.

The mass clear out seems to be aimed at giving new coach, Herber Maruwa, a free hand to assemble his own squad. Maruwa was unveiled as the club’s new coach last month to lead the Dynamos revolution after going without silverware since Kalisto Pasuwa left the club in 2014.

Dynamos also parted ways with chairman, Isaiah Mupfurutsa in November last year and replaced him with his deputy Moses Maunganidze.

That is great. Please don’t sign any foreign players. Release all of them, they are useless. Promote juniors and scout for young local talent. No old madalas please. – Tendai Joni

It’s not surprising though when a team of the calibre of DeMbare hires a nobody like Herbert Flowers as coach. – Elias Gurure

I think it’s a good move. Last season, FC Paltinum re-leased some senior players to pave way for unknowns. The unknown ones were hungry for success. Come end of season, they won the league. I see Dynamos doing the same. -Oggy Mudzari

Good move; we can’t rely on those players anymore. They played their part and it’s high time they went elsewhere. New blood is needed in that team, not old madalas. Most of them won’t go beyond this season, so the time to rebuild is now. Some will not like it, but that’s the way to go. – Bright Mvundura
