Massive gig for Marondera

Slated for June 1 at Rudhaka Stadium until the following day, the gig will see dendera crooner Suluman Chimbetu, contemporary musician Jah Prayzah, Nicholas “Madzibaba” Zakaria, gospel musician Mathias Mhere, reggae outfit House of Stone and Diamond Musica serenading multitudes of fans from Marondera and its environs.

One of the show organisers Erasmus Simba Chatima, said preparations were on course to bring one of the biggest musical festivals in Marondera in recent times for a worthy cause.

“Part of the proceeds will go towards three charity organisations, namely Musha Wevana, which is an orphanage; Kukura Neshungu, a home for the physically and mentally challenged; and Ida Wekwako, which is home to the elderly.”

“As part of the community we believe we should not sit back and watch while our people are going hungry and are battling to stay afloat amidst a sea of problems, but we should be able to assist them with whatever we can.

“It is within the same spirit that we will also not monopolise the initiative, but we are also calling out to other well-wishers and the corporate world to join us in our endeavours,” he said.

Probably the biggest winners of this noble  cause will be music fans who will be serenaded through music and dance when the six crooners  take to the stage.

All the musicians lined up for the event are  expected to bring out their best, considering the  experience they have to date of staging high–octane gigs, whether at home, around the region or in the Diaspora.

While Diamond Musica and House of Stone are expected to provide a refreshing angle wioth their rhumba and afro-reggae beat, all eyes will probably be on the other four, who are expected to rock the crowd from their wide discography spanning a cumulative 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry.
