Masvingo feel Mambas venom

FORMER Dynamos striker Sebastian Mutizirwa scored his first goal of the season as he led Black Mambas to this convincing victory over Masvingo United in a Premiership soccer match at Morris Depot yesterday.
Mutizirwa scored in the last minute of added time to hand Masvingo their third defeat of the season.
The hosts opened the scoring in the 35th minute through Kasimero Chimbadzwa who hammered home a free-kick that sailed past Masvingo goalminder Francis Tizayi.
The free-kick was awarded to Mambas on the edge of the box after Phillip Chandisaita had pulled second goal scorer Odience Rundofa who was charging towards the goal.
Masvingo levelled the scores in the 42nd minute.
A throw-in by captain Saprine Muchabaya found Pervington Zimunya who in turn fed the ball to Johnson Zimbabe to apply the finishing touch.
Masvingo were rejuvenated after the break and they forced Mambas defender Atlast Musasa to make two goalline clearances in the first two minutes of this period.
But the visitors fell behind again in the 57th minute when Protasho Kabwe’s corner was headed home by Rundofa. Mutizirwa put the game beyond Masvingo’s reach in stoppage time when he pounced on a rebound after Fortune Ncube’s shot was punched back into his path by Masvingo goalkeeper Francis Tizayi.
Mambas coach John “Toto” Ncube was happy with his side’s overall performance.
“This is a good win for us, especially after coming from last week’s defeat by Kiglon and we expect to continue playing as a unit. We are now going to focus on our next match,” Ncube said.
Masvingo coach Luke Masomere was a disappointed man and blamed his side’s latest defeat on the suspension of some of his players by the club’s executive committee.
“We had problems as I assembled this team today after five of my players were suspended.
” We arrived late and had to use the supporters’ cars after our bus broke down 10 km outside Mvuma.”
