Zanu PF leaders in Masvingo have hailed President Mnangagwa and the party’s national leadership for selecting the province to host the country’s 47th Independence Day celebrations next year.

Masvingo will host the national Uhuru celebrations and the Children’s Party at a venue that is yet to be identified by the leadership.

The Second Republic has decentralised the hosting of national events to provinces across the country in line with its policy of leaving no one and no place behind.

This year’s 46th anniversary celebrations were held in Maphisa, Matabeleland South Province.

Speaking on the sidelines of a recent Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting at Masvingo Polytechnic, the revolutionary party’s provincial chairperson, Cde Robson Mavhenyengwa said the meeting focused on possible venues for next year’s celebrations.

“We met as the provincial party leadership mainly to discuss possible venues for next year’s national Independence Day celebrations,” said Cde Mavhenyengwa.

“We are happy that the President and First Secretary of Zanu PF, Cde ED Mnangagwa, and the national leadership chose Masvingo to be the host of national independence celebrations next year. There is huge excitement in the province.

“We will recommend possible venues to the national leadership,” he said.

Besides deliberating on possible venues for the national independence celebrations, the party leadership in Masvingo also took the opportunity to commend the province for the overwhelming support for Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3.

“We also discussed the overwhelming support that has been given to CAB3 by the people of Masvingo Province during the outreach exercise until now as we wait to go to the next stage in Parliament,” he said.
