Masvingo, Saints draw

Saints in a drab Castle Lager Premiership soccer encounter that was watched by a small crowd at Mucheke.
Masvingo United put up a dispirited display after their players connived to miss a glut of chances that came their way and a draw was a fair result at the end of the day.

The busmen could have taken the lead in the first 10 minutes after Saints’ Nkosilathi Dube’s back pass was intercepted by Yuna Yuna’s Welcome Ndiweni who could only hit the side netting with Chikwata goalie Munyaradzi Diya badly exposed.

Two minutes later, the visitors’ Chipo Tsodzo thought he had propelled his side into the lead but his goal was ruled off-side.
Sensing danger, Masvingo started to pour forward in numbers and could have drawn first blood in the 25th minute but Ronald Makiwa’s grounder, which had caught Diya off-guard, was blocked by the hardworking and experienced Tsodzo.

Yuna Yuna almost broke the stalemate in the 30th minute after Pervington Zimunya unleashed a thunderbolt that grazed the woodwork after being slightly punched by the outstanding Diya in goals for Chikwata.

Five minutes later Makiwa again returned to haunt Chikwata and managed to beat Diya with a low shot only for his effort to be cleared off the line by Saints defender Dube.

The visitors returned from the break a more rejuvenated outfit but found Yuna Yuna goalie Francis Tizayi outstanding.
Ngoni Murisa introduced by Saints coach Ephraim Chawanda in the 70th minute hit the woodwork in the 88th minute.
