Masvingo schools record 100pc pass rate

Dube said that the 2011 Advanced Level results were the best ever.
About 35 schools have recorded a 100 percent pass rate with Gokomere and Pamushana High School having more students with 20 points and 15 points respectively.
“This year’s results are not only making us proud but they are the most amazing results that have been produced in Masvingo province. We applaud the education sector in the province for a job well done,” said Ms Clara Dube.
Gokomere High School had four students with 20 points each. Most students who scored 20 points were doing Arts and commercial subjects. The school had 10 students who have managed to obtain 15 points each. All Gokomere Advanced level students who sat for the examinations last year passed.
The PED said Gokomere was still maintaining its legacy of producing best results and the school is maintaining its record of flying colours, which is giving the province a respectable position in the country.
“The teachers and the students worked hard hand in hand to produce these results,” said one of the former students at Gokomere.
Pamushana High School had four students with 20 points each and seven students with 15 points. It has a 100 percent pass rate.
St Antony High School in Zaka had one student with 15 points as well as Victoria High School in Masvingo urban while Hippo Valley High School also had one student with 15 points.
Ms Dube applauded all the students who managed to pass their examinations and encouraged them to continue working hard in their future endeavours.
“I would want to say, well done to the students who have done their teachers, me, as education director and largely their parents proud. I urge them to continue excelling in their various fields at universities. Wherever they go they should know that they carry our province’s flag so they should fly it high.”
She said it was not easy for over 30 schools to perform remarkably well and attributed the good student performance to the improvement in education resources.
“We have best results and over 30 schools in the province have managed a 100 percent pass rate. I am happy with the results and it shows that the education department and the teachers are doing a great job for it is not easy to achieve this feat. These are the results of improved resources in schools. The situation on reading materials has improved and teachers are now dedicated,” said the PED.
