B-Metro Reporter

A RUTHLESS robber who turned a quiet footpath into a crime corridor of fear has finally been stopped in his tracks!

Tawanda Dovi (42), who went on a violent robbing spree in March 2025, has been slapped with a 30-month jail sentence by the Masvingo Magistrates Court after terrorising innocent pedestrians with a 6-gear Okapi knife.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ, Dovi struck three times in just four days, targeting people walking between Siphambi Shopping Centre and Bhati Business Centre.

On March 22, he snatched an Itel A50 from a woman. Two days later, he robbed another woman of US$12 and a Mobicel phone. But the violence peaked on March 25, when Dovi stabbed a man four times before stealing two phones and US$51.

Police moved in fast, tracked him down, and recovered some of the loot. He was convicted on all three counts of robbery and sentenced to 36 months in prison, with 6 months suspended, landing him an effective 30-month stay behind bars.

Locals are breathing a sigh of relief as Dovi “was a nightmare with a knife.”
