EX-Highlanders juniors coach Mark Mathe marked his arrival at Zimbabwe Saints in style beating log anchors Bulawayo Jumbos 2-0 in a Zifa Southern region Division One match played on Saturday. The former Premiership side that has been languishing in the unfashionable league for two seasons got their goals from Norman Jero and Patrick Mumba.
Chikwata, desperate to take their championship campaign back on track, appointed Mathe as their head coach last week and the lanky gaffer brought with him Xolani Nkundlambe to assist him.
“This was a good result for our new coach who brought with him his assistant coach Xolani Nkundlambe to work with him. He took over from Edmore Sibanda and Tirivavi Sithole, who have since left the club,” said Zimbabwe Saints official Jabulani Chinyangarara.
Chikwata moved two places up the ladder to position nine on the log with 15 points from 11 matches.
In other matches, Ntabazinduna Prison held log leaders Bulawayo Chiefs to a goalless draw.
Bulawayo Chiefs who have 28 points from 11 games still maintained their six point lead over second placed Black Boots who forced a late equaliser in their one-all draw with Bantu Rovers.
