THE Midwest Rhinos duo of Simon Mgava and seamer Richard Muzhange have left for England to play county cricket. The two players are expected back in the country around September in time for the domestic season. Rhinos area manager, Admire Marodza confirmed the departure of the two players which he said is a big boost for the franchise side as the duo will be exposed to a more competitive league.

“I can confirm the departure of (Simon) Mgava and (Richard) Muzhange who are already in England where they are attached to different clubs where they are now playing county cricket.

“As a franchise we are happy for the two players as they will gain immensely by playing in such a competitive league and I hope the experience they would have gained will come in handy to the team. I hope they will impart what they would have learnt to the rest of the team,” he said.

Marodza said they received enquiries about senior players in the side such as Vusi Sibanda, Brendan Taylor, Edward Rainsford and Malcolm Waller among others but they could not be released since they have central contracts with Zimbabwe Cricket.

Rhinos has over the years been sending its players overseas for attachments and last year Mgava together with the trio of Rainsford, Waller and Steve Marillier have secured foreign contracts.

Rainsford and leg spinner Mgava will be playing county cricket in England for Yorkshire which is currently under the tutelage of former Rhinos mentor Jason Gillispie and Evershy respectively.

Top order batsman Waller signed for Furguslie in Scotland while Marillier got an attachment in Holland where he was turning out for Voorburg Cricket Club.
