Matsika Shisa Nyama anniversary draws mega crowd

SCORES of party lovers thronged Matsika’s Shisa Nyama at Chigumira Shopping Centre in Bulawayo’s Luveve suburb on Saturday to celebrate the braai spot’s first anniversary.

The joint which opened doors in September last year held a celebration party to thank its patrons for the support.

The party started in the afternoon with music being played with competitions that saw many getting giveaways  prizes for families. Later in the day, the party went into an overdrive with the music provided by DJs Sbu and Vic hitting the upper decibel levels, getting patrons into a party mood.

Patrons were also treated to laughter when Umahlekisa Comedy Club comedian Ntando Moyo Van got on stage and left the crowd in stitches.

So oversubscribed was the event that at some point during the party, parking at the barbecue spot became a nightmare and the staff there had to direct guests to park at a football ground behind the leisure centre.

A partygoer, Nhlanhla Gumede praised the spot’s proprietors for a good year of service.

“I started coming to Matsika’s Shisa Nyama in December last year and ever since then, I try to come here every weekend. I love the quality of their meat and the atmosphere,” said Gumede.

Speaking at the event, the establishment’s proprietor Joseph Dzova said he was grateful to everyone who passed through their doors since they opened last year.

“When we opened last year, we struggled to get patrons but the few that were frequenting our place began to tell others and brought more and more of their friends.

“These days our weekends are very busy and we’re really grateful for the support,” Dzova said.

He revealed plans to open a sports bar at the leisure centre in December.
