adminIN yesterday’s edition, we carried an article under the headline, “Hero status sought for ex-political detainees” in which we quoted Zanu-PF secretary for the Disabled and Vulnerable, Cde Joshua Malinga, as saying two ex-political detainees, Cde Benjamin Mtshayisa and Mr Norman Mabhena, who have passed on, deserved liberation war hero status.
Cde Malinga has since clarified that he only said Cde Mtshayisa deserved to be accorded the honour because he stayed true to the ideals of the struggle to his death.
He said he never commented on the status of Mr Mabhena who was a member of the MDC-T at the time of his death.
