MANICA Diamonds midfielder Trevor “Yaya” Mavhunga said he is pleased with the leadership skills being shown by ‘keeper Jorum Muchambo.
Coach Jairos Tapera has so far trusted the veteran goalminder for duty ahead of the likes of Geoffrey Chitsumba and Tedious Baye.
Mavhunga, who joined Manica from giants Dynamos, revealed that he was impressed by the quality of Brett Amidu, Farai Banda and Liberty Chakoroma.
Mavhunga has played before with most of the players now at Manica at his previous clubs and at junior levels.
“I have played with most of the players here in the same teams before at different levels, starting with junior leagues.
“Brett Amidu, Liberty Chakoroma and Farai Banda have really impressed me.
“I also have to mention Jorum Muchambo. Despite me also being a senior player, I have to appreciate how Jorum commands his defence and leads from the backline.
“My position also allows me to be the last man in different transitions of the game and the two of us get involved a lot.
“I can say he is really a leader considering the message he gives to other players.”
Mavhunga believes the team has now gelled and it’s high time they start to be consistent with posting good results.
“The position we stand in as a team is now different from when we started.
“Our understanding has now improved a lot and I can say we have gelled as a team.
“In every squad, for it to be called a team, there is a need to build oneness, unity, and understanding.
“Those aspects might look like they don’t matter but they matter a lot and are the small details that can change the face of the game at any time.
“We are expecting to win our next coming games as it’s high time for the team to take off and show our capabilities.”
Manica Diamonds have managed to amass five points in their first five games and are scheduled to face ZPC on Friday.
