Mazivise not ready for national team duty

A lot of fans, especially in Zvishavane, wanted Warriors coach Rahman Gumbo to try the player when he called up his provisional squad before the Guinea match.

Many believe Asiagate tainted Ali Sadiki and Mazivise could have probably done better in place of Takesure Chinyama who has been given numerous chances dating back to four years ago.

But Mazivise says he is focusing on scoring and walking home with the PSL Golden Boot award at the end of the season.

“I am still young and learning the ropes and those who are in the team are very good and can deliver. It’s just that they are unlucky. Fans should not give pressure to the coaches to call me. When my time comes I will definitely be called up,” he said

“I am working very hard to make the required grade and I also wish to play for my country one day just like any other player and God willing I want to achieve something with the Warriors. The national team coaches are very good and with everyone’s support positive results will come,” said the 24-year-old who has scored nine goals from 10 appearances.

“Competition is very stiff and Ali (Sadiki) is breathing on my neck. In the second half of the season it will be more difficult but I am happy with the support from my coaches and teammates.

My job is to score and I make sure I do my job because we play as a team and I am not bigger than anyone in the team. I justwant the fans to continue rallying behind us. I am happy to be working with coach Masomere (Luke). He is a very good motivator,” he said.

Mazivise is on a season’s loan from FC Platinum together with goalkeeper Muranganwa Nengomasha and fellow striker Francis Kanda.

He has been enjoying his game since joining the asbestos miners.

He is married to Vanessa Chademoyo and they have an eight-month-old daughter.
