Mbare suburb will never be the same again, the heart of Harare’s oldest neighbourhood is beating anew.
Urban renewal and regeneration are accelerating across the capital, with Mbare emerging as the bold flagship of transformation.
Crumbling infrastructure is being replaced with modern facilities, rejuvenated housing and upgraded road networks.
The suburb now stands at the centre of Zimbabwe’s broader plan to revitalise its urban landscape.
President Mnangagwa is set to officially open the newly upgraded Mbare Musika Market this Friday, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing Mbare Urban Renewal and Regeneration Project.
Once a long-abandoned trading hub, the market has been transformed into a modern, clean, and efficient space designed to uplift both vendors and customers.
A devastating fire prompted the overhaul in November last year after destroying numerous stalls and forcing the President to declare a state of disaster.
In the fire’s aftermath, President Mnangagwa directed swift Government intervention, a pledge that has now visibly come to fruition.
Road rehabilitation is in overdrive, with roads such as Remembrance Drive, Chaminuka, Ardbennie and Dieppe undergoing notable facelifts.
