JUST like Ngezi Platinum Stars did in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, Mbembesi have also done the same in the Godlwayo South Soccer League as they have won all the five opening matches they have played so far.
Defending champions Mbembesi are on top of the GSSL log with 15 points. They have scored 14 goals while their defence has only been breached once so far this season. Nine of those goals have been scored by Nkosilathi “Madinda” Tshili.
Last Sunday, Tshili’s goal was the difference when they defeated last year’s runners up Dekezi 1-0 at Mbembesi Grounds in what was certainly the game of the week in the league. Just like when it looked like Mbembesi’s perfect winning run had come to an end, Tshili was at the end of a move involving Ndlovu brothers, Dumolwenkosi and Mediator in stoppage time to hand his team the winning goal.
Since there are 13 teams in the GSSL, Mbembesi have a bye this weekend while the other 12 are in action.
In March, bankrollers of the 13-team league, Bulawayo-based businessman Bhekimpilo Maranda Sithole, the South Africa domiciled duo of Kossam Mavuna Ndlovu and Zibusiso Majankwe Ncube announced that they will be upping incentives that will be given to the teams at the end of the season.
