THE Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) has been applauded for its decision to withdraw licences from wholesale dealers engaged in drug peddling, as a means of tackling ongoing drug abuse among young people.

The Students And Youth Working on Reproductive Health Action Team (SAYWHAT) has supported the MCAZ measures, stating:

“We acknowledge the importance of regulating the availability of such medicines…By implementing measures to control the distribution of codeine-containing medicines, MCAZ is working towards safeguarding the well-being and health of Zimbabwean youth…”

SAYWHAT is focussed on raising awareness about the danger of drug use, and the wider impacts on sexual and reproductive health.
