FOR over a decade, kwaito/hip-hop musician Mcheznana (real name Lwazilwenkosi Skuza) has maintained his popularity in the music circles by releasing singles every year.
This time around, he has taken a new route of collaborating with fellow artistes on a single that is meant to thank his ancestors. The single to be titled Khanyisa Dlozi will feature Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards (RoilBAA) Outstanding Alternative Music winner Thandy Dhlana and produced by RoilBAA Outstanding producer Neshville.
Mcheznana, the Yokozuna hitmaker said he is excited to be working with the finest artistes in the city. “We’ll be in the studio this week with award winners Thandy Dhlana and Neshville at Rockup Studioz to work on a track titled Khanyisa Dlozi.
This is a track meant to thank ancestors for all they have done for us and I’m sure people are going to relate well with it,” Mcheznana said.
Commenting on the recently held RoilBAAs, Mcheznana hailed organisers saying they raised the bar high. “RoilBAA is definitely a great event and this is exactly what artistes have been yearning for. We need to be appreciated while we’re still alive and I’m glad that this is finally happening.”
