The MDC-T National Council has today fired the party’s deputy president Thokozani Khupe and two other senior officials.

In a statement, the MDC-T said Organising Secretary Abednigo Bhebhe had also been expelled from the party together with Obert Gutu, the party spokesperson who was on suspension.

“On VP Khupe, the national council noted the efforts for engagement made by the party President and the fact that VP Khupe remained stubborn, obdurate, intransigent and spurned all party efforts to address her grievances as she continued to hold illegal meetings and partake in unconstitutional activities, putting the party into disrepute and undermining the constitutional organs of the party”, reads the statement.

Similar allegations of unconstitutional behavior and continuously putting the party into disrepute were leveled against Messrs. Gutu and Bhebhe, resulting in their expulsions. The party also formally accepted the resignation of the party national chairman Mr Lovemore Moyo.

The national council further resolved that leaders that have ceased to be members of the party but who are in Parliament, in particular VP Khupe and Abednigo Bhebhe, be recalled with immediate effect.
