Political temperatures in the MDC-T in Masvingo are reportedly on the verge of reaching tipping point as some party members aligned to a faction linked to businessman Mr Benard Chiondegwa bitterly complained to the party’s national council over alleged purging of their members through the nomination process.
The disgruntled MDC-T members aligned to Mr Chiondegwa alleged manipulation of their nomination papers by a faction linked to party provincial chairman Mr Wilstaf Sitemere.

Sources in the party yesterday said all was not well in the MDC-T in Masvingo ahead of party primary elections.
“All is not well in the party at the moment because the infighting pitting those aligned to Mr Chiondegwa and those who belong to Mr Sitemere’s faction has reached new heights.
“In fact the Chiondegwa faction has since petitioned the party’s national council to intervene before more damage is inflicted. There are now fears that those who were sidelined from contesting the primary elections through manipulation by the Mr Sitemere faction might compromise the party’s chances of winning seats in the province,’’ said the source who preferred anonymity.
