MDC youths close party offices

MDC youths in Bulawayo yesterday closed two party offices, protesting against what they called unilateral dissolution of the provincial structure by national organising secretary, Rita Ndlovu. The party has a provincial office and national one in the city.

The demonstrations came as the national youth executive released a list of members after restructuring of the organ including two members Minenhle Gumede and Sheppard Dube who were removed by Ndlovu from the provincial executive.

MDC national spokesperson Nhlanhla Dube said he was unaware of the demonstration.

“I’m absolutely not aware of any protest. If it’s true that they undertook such a democratic expression, the province will deal with the matter amicably,” he said.

Party sources said Ndlovu first put new structures to replace a Jackson Ndlovu-led youth executive that was ousted last year replacing it with one led by Sheppard Dube with Gumede being secretary.

“She did that without consulting the national youth executive and the main wing and formed structures, using what format, no one knows,” said a source within MDC.
