A HARARE woman was shocked when her former husband offered $25 000 maintenance for the upkeep of their two minor children.
Monica Bhunu was claiming $90 000 maintenance from her ex-husband, Abide Sakwinje.
Bhunu told the court that Sakwinje works as a motor mechanic.
“He works as a motor mechanic and has three other children,” she said.
“My offer is $25 000 for both minors and I will continue paying $10 000 school fees.
“I stay in the rural areas and I do some farming,” he said.
In response, Bhunu rejected the offer stating that it is not enough.
“I do not accept the offer because it is not enough. At one point he applied for custody of the children indicating that he owes a company, so he is capable,” she added.
Magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini granted the order for the sum of $45 000 plus school fees and uniforms
