Medals for Zim team

Ball Sports-sponsored Zimbabwe men’s and women’s teams did themselves and the nation proud after coming third overall in their respective sections in the six-day tournament which ran from March 31 to April 5. It attracted six countries from the Southern African Region — Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the hosts South Africa. The Zimbabwe men’s side went on to face Malawi in the third-place play-off on the last day of the tournament last Thursday and they did well to win 22-17 which helped them to win a bronze medal.
After losing to the eventual gold medallist Mozambique in the semis, the Zimbabwe women’s Under-20 side faced Lesotho in the third-place play-off and they restored some lost pride by beating their opponents from the small Mountain Kingdom 28-16 to settle for a bronze medal.
