Meleka is back home on a break but will be returning to Botswana next week for preparations for the 2013/2014 season.
“I feel greatly honoured to be voted the Soccer Star of the Year in Botswana. The feeling is just fantastic and I hope to work harder next season,” said Meleka.
“Most people will be expecting to see more from me and I hope to deliver.
“I played in each and every game last season. I created a number goal goals for the team in the process.
“I never received a red card during the season despite playing as an anchorman.”
Mochudi Centre Chiefs will be back in the African Champions League next year and Meleka is hopeful that they will do better even without Ndlovu who is heading to Township Rollers.
“We were knocked out by TP Mazembe this year and we hope to do better next season,” said Meleka. “I have played in the Champions League before with Gunners in Zimbabwe.
“I still want to be part of the national team. I had sort of sneaked out to Botswana two years ago but now I have settled well and should be able to get the recognition by the selectors.”
In winning the award of excellence in Botswana, Meleka received a trophy and P50 000.
