Gary Oldman has been picked by the judges for his role as British spymaster George Smiley in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Gary (53) said it was “amazing” to be put forward for the Best Actor award for the first time.
Gary – whose sister is EastEnders star Laila Morse – added: “You may have heard this before, but it has never been truer than it is for me today, it is extremely humbling, gratifying, and delightful to have your work recognised by the Academy.
“And to join the celebrated ranks of previous nominees and colleagues. Amazing.”
