Circus gets new lease of life

it has become a staple on the club circuit. Perhaps there is something about the name where besides the music everything appears to be a circus.
It is little wonder then that Circus Nightclub comes alive this weekend after it shut down close to a year.
Formerly Amnesia, the club situated at Strathaven Shopping Centre has gone back to its original name Circus and is now under new management.
Chuckie Miller, the new manager for the club, said Circus is coming back in a big way.
“We are going to open four days a week starting from Wednesdays until Saturdays. However, for this weekend we open tonight (Friday) for the welcome back party with a hot line-up of DJs.
“It is our hope that the new-look Circus is in line with what is trending at the moment in most countries,” Chuckie said.
Asked what was in store at Circus, Chuckie said one of the things music lovers should expect was the quality of service at the club.
“There have been different owners who failed to improve on services and this is one of our main objectives over and above an exciting line-up of DJs.
“Remember all these other joints are just restaurants that play loud music after diners have gone and Circus is the club,” he said.
The VIP lounge has is complete with leather sofas and couches just like the days of Stan Bosh (previous owner) used to run it.
“Some of the DJs expected to rock fans include Storm, Trix, Da Dude and myself will be on the turntables,” Chuckie said.
Featured on Fridays will be the classic old school nights while the traditional ladies’ nights are scheduled for Thursdays and Saturdays are reserved for “live jams” and anything new.
“Every weekend there will be a mixed bag of music as well as the quarterly international shows not just bringing DJs from South Africa only but across all borders. Circus has always been a place for hip-hop and R&B,” he said.
He said Circus will host the Jamaican artiste Mavado tonight and drinks will be available at affordable prices while the under 25s are not allowed into the club.
