The family of late Zimbabwean Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere is still struggling to come to terms with the tragic death of one of TVas rising stars a year after his demise.
Mhere passed away last year alongside his friend Kady Shady OaBryan on January 31.
Preshalin Naidoo, the 21-year-old that drove the vehicle that allegedly led to the death of Simba Mhere, is still facing culpable homicide charges, with the trial postponed a number of times.
Mhereas 21-year-old sister revealed in an interview with South Africaa YOU Magazine that the family did not feel their pain had eased in the year since Mhere had passed away.
a?I canat say that a year later it gets easier; we just have to take each day as it comes,a? Valerie told YOU.
a?Everyone has it in them to rise above whatever adversity comes their way and so I think for both my family and all his friends we have chosen to rise above,a? she said.
She added that the heartbreak that they all shared had brought them even closer together while they had also turned to prayer as a source of comfort in their hour of need.
a?Iam always so surprised at how strong my parents are through everything, especially my father, but above everything I believe God has been there the entire time and thatas made all the difference; thatas why we are able to live on,a? she said.
Valerie revealed that the Mhere family did not hold a protracted or extravagant ceremony on the day that Mhere died, preferring instead to remember him in an intimate and private setting.
a?We just went to the cemetery after church and sat there and chatted about Simba, a few friends came over, others dropped off dinner for us and we spent some time at home,a? she said.
