While some people are still struggling to find their feet in this new year, others are already making headlines for the wrong reasons.
What with people like Magaya, the leader of PHD Ministries who recently stirred a hornet’s nest by denigrating the apostolic sects left, right and centre.
While he thought he was going to have it easy or in other words get away with such deliberate, uninformed provocation, he got it all wrong because to start with, it is not all those apostolic sects who do not use the Bible and besides his shallow and otherwise strained attempt to justify his claims, there is no evil or demon which originates from any water body or any other source apart from that which is recorded in the Bible which is the devil or Satan’s banishing from heaven together with his angels of darkness. These demons then seek bodies or people to occupy and operate from.
Any other interpretation or attempt to manipulate scriptures is not only heretical but diabolical too and so must be exposed and treated with the concept it deserves.
While the apostolic sects may have their own questionable operation traits, the same can still be said of the charismatic or Pentecostal churches of which Magaya’s ministry falls. The mainline churches have also been in existence for a long time, but there are some people who are not happy with the way they worship and so they have decided to come up with ways of worship they feel are suitable, but that doesn’t make the main line churches evil.
So any attempt to disqualify or judge other ministries apart from the scriptures is not only evil in itself, but very mischievous and misguided.
Now we hear another prophet is another scandal involving a high value car.
Talk of churches and righteousness! God help us. Well, well, well enough of the above. As the year unfolds, another big scandal has hit the entertainment industry.
No, it is not piracy, it is not drugs or truancy by musicians. It is the story on everyone’s lips. Yes, the story of the young and award winning gospel sensation, Mathias Mhere.
The young man is in pain, we all know the story. Mhere is the one who sang this popular song, ‘Judas wandaidyawo naye mundiro imwe chete… usavimbe nemunhu munin’ina…. Vimba naJehovha Mwari wako”, a song which talks about betrayal by a close ally.
He followed up this song with another one with a similar theme: “Ndisahwira wako here uyu…?”
Now after discovering that his wife was cheating with his best friend, the question on many people’s lips is whether Mhere had an idea of what was happening already between the two when he penned those two songs.
From the statement he gave to Saturday Herald, it seems he had no idea, but maybe he was in the prophetic realm.
According to Mhere’s account, he first learnt of Gift Mahlupeka’s advances on his wife from the wife herself and this resulted in Mhere’s friendship with Gift breaking down and the wife promised to block Gift’s number.
So how did the two ended up being an item. One likely school of thought is that as Susan Dzinamarira continued in loneliness as a result of her husband’s tours of duty, the idea that had been planted in her by Gift came back and she decided to give it a try and for Gift, it was a dream come true. But in all this, Gift was the initiator and when the woman joined in, she became unstoppable.
The fact that she was now using a password on her phone and would not allow her husband to hold it speaks volumes about the person she had become.
No matter what explanations and justifications we may try to give, if you find your spouse reluctant to have you hold his or her phone, then that person is a cheater or has potential to cheat. While we may find news in what has happened to Mhere, the truth of the matter is that many people are going through the same experiences.
The only difference is you have not come across it or if you have you chose to keep it away from the public, otherwise many people are walking bleeding. They are wounded from matters of the heart
The advent of social networks has made communication efficient and interaction easy thereby creating a breeding ground for illicit relationships.
How can a woman or man be connected to several ‘‘friends’’ of the opposite sex and exchange fun messages coupled with pornographic videos or pictures and remain innocent?
It takes a principled person to remain level-headed in our times because the incentives to compromise are just too high.
Others who feel they cannot handle these social networks are choosing not to join them but again you will then realise you are always left behind in what is happening around us.
So people may say well the woman needed attention and so on, but that’s not true because even those who are getting the attention are still doing it.
Is it a question of exploration, weakness or a deliberate, mischievous character trait?
It has been traditionally established that men have always been career or serial cheats, but it seems women are now perfecting the game and who will stop them?
So your husband is busy singing for God and you are busy doing exactly that which he is lamenting which means someone is opposing God.
You are not pulling in the same direction.
While adultery is the easiest thing to do, its consequences are too ghastly to contemplate. Jesus says: “Any other sin is outside the body, but whoever commits adultery sins against his/her own spirit.”
In another scripture, Jesus says: “It is written — thou shall not commit adultery, but I say to you that whoever looks at a man/woman lustfully, has already committed adultery.”
That is a higher standard, but the whole thrust is we should not give in to this evil passion because its damage is just too big.
Sorry, Mhere, but such is life, my brother!
