And according to reports from South Africa, Heric handed in his resignation letter on Monday, paving the way for Chidzambwa to return to the fold as the team’s head coach but on an interim basis.
Chidzambwa was working as the club’s technical director before the latest developments.
KickOff.com contacted a Leopards official, who opted to remain anonymous, and he confirmed that the Serbian has indeed left the club after making demands that the management felt were unreasonable.
“He resigned last night (on Monday night), so he is no longer coach of the club. At one stage he wanted us to buy 10 players and that was unreasonable,” he said.
Heric could not be immediately reached for comment.
Meanwhile, former Bafana Bafana and Finland manager Stuart Baxter was yesterday named coach of Absa Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs in succession to the sacked Serb Vladimir Vermezovic.
A club spokesman said that 58-year-old England-born Baxter will begin a two-year contract in June and faces the daunting challenge of lifting the most successful and
popular South African football club out of the doldrums.
Chiefs failed to win any of the four league and cup trophies this season and recently suffered four consecutive losses in all competitions for the first time since the club was founded 42 years ago.
Baxter coached South Africa in the middle of the previous decade with little success, winning only five of 10 qualifiers for the 2006 World Cup and failing to reach the finals in Germany.
