MIGHTY Warriors agoalkeepers’ coach Ndega Matsika believes it is still game on between the Mighty Warriors of Zimbabwe and the Black Queens of Ghana despite their 2-1 defeat in Accra, Ghana last weekend. The Mighty Warriors, who are ranked 10th on the continent, only need a one-goal win for them to qualify when they meet the Black Queens, who are ranked second.
The two teams clash next month in the second leg of the All-Africa Games qualifiers.
The second leg will be played in Harare.
Matsika, who is confident that they can upset the Black Queens, said the Mighty Warriors are in great form, which can see them qualifying to the next round.
“Our hopes for qualifying are still high as the ladies are playing well. Our key players at the moment are Chido Dzingirai, Emmaculate Musipa and Majoury Nyaumwe, who have proved to be in top form in recent matches.
“I was impressed with the way the girls played though we slackened in the first half, but we managed to pull a shocker in the second half when we scored a very crucial away goal and I believe we can upset them when they visit us next month for the second leg.
“We need to perfect the areas that we were found wanting for us to qualify for the All- Africa Games to be hosted by Congo-Brazzaville. The games are set for September 4 to 19.
“We hope that we will make use of home advantage when we play them,” said Matsika.
