resurgence by booking its place at the All-Africa Games in Maputo in September.
Jongwe is confident the Mighty Warriors will complete their assignment and will not under pressure when they take on Angola at Rufaro on Sunday.
Zimbabwe will book their place at the All-Africa Games if they win, or draw goalless, against the visitors at Rufaro. The two teams settled for a 1-1 draw in the first leg and the hosts want to finish off the job and cap a spectacular resurgence.
Jongwe, the former Kiglon and CAPS FC coach, believes they have done enough in terms of their preparations and will not let this opportunity slip through their fingers.
He said they have been working on countering offside traps after the team was caught on numerous occasions in Angola.
“We have been working on movement because our opponents were slow in the first leg,” said Jongwe.
“And we have also been working on the offside trap and it has been difficult to adopt to the tactics they were not exposed to before.
“But I am happy we are getting there.
“We need to wrap up the match quickly and will attack from the word go.”
He said the players were aware of the significance of their assignment.
“We are not under pressure to deliver at home, even if the visitors score a crucial early goal.
“We know what we want and we have seen the way that the team plays and we can beat them and we believe it can be done.”
Striker Rudo Neshamba scored for the Mighty Warriors after the hosts had converted an early penalty.
However, Zimbabwe will be hoping that goalkeeper Onai Chingawo, who has been outstanding so far, will be in top form. The Aces Youth Academy goalminder has also been handed the armband as ageing captain Nomsa “Boys” Moyo continues to struggle with reclaiming a position in a team oiled by youthful players.
Coach Rosemary Mugadza has assembled a good side and would want to secure a place at the All-Africa Games in Maputo in September after last featuring at the 2003 edition in South Africa.
The team will tomorrow fine-tune their preparations with a friendly match against a team from the President’s Office at Rufaro.
Angola are expected to arrive on Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the team has received a timely boost following the donation of groceries by Nestle Zimbabwe. Women’s soccer boss Mavis Gumbo said the coporate world has shown tremendous support of the girl child.
“We want to qualify for Maputo and repay the support we have been getting from the coporate world and everyone. “We want to go to Maputo and celebrate our revival story by playing against African heavyweights. We are urging all the soccer fans and mothers to come and fill the stadium in our final match and support us.
“The match is free of charge and will also be live on television. The match will be graced by the Presidium and the coporates who have supported us in many ways and have pledged to do more for the team if they qualify for the Games.
“We have Nestle coming in, LG Foods while Jocelyn Chiwenga has been donating food and has provided the new bedding at the Zifa Village.
“She has been a mother to the girls,” said Gumbo.
Meanwhile, Warriors cheerleader Chris “Romario” Musekiwa said they would rally behind the team in their bid to qualify for Maputo.
