Mighty Warriors fly out today

The Mighty Warriors begin their Africa Cup of Nations journey with a preliminary round tie against neighbours Botswana and will host the Tswanas here in two weeks time.

The defender has made it into the team, which is dominated by the regular players, who have been playing together for a year now.
Mighty Warriors’ coach, Rosemary Mugadza, has retained the team, which starred in the Unity Day Challenge Cup, save for Black Rhinos’ Queens defender Lynette Mutokuto who has a groin strain.
Mugadza has declared that her charges should qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations this year to complete their revival story.

If Zimbabwe progress to the first round they will meet African powerhouse Nigeria and the Zimbabwean gaffer is optimistic that the team will prevail over Botswana who are ranked below the Mighty Warriors.
The team, which beat South Africa’s Banyana Banyana 3-0 on December 22, will be hoping to continue from where they left on Unity Day at Rufaro.
Chief striker Rudo Neshamba, Rutendo Makore and Kuda Basopo scored for Zimbabwe as the Mighty Warriors registered a rare victory against Olympic Games-bound Banyana Banyana.

Meanwhile, the team this morning will meet Zifa president, Cuthbert Dube, who usually bids farewell to representative national teams leaving for international assignments.
