THE Mighty Warriors are in for a busy end of year schedule if an invite for the national team to take part in the inaugural Cecafa Womena��s Challenge Cup in Uganda is taken up by the football mother body Zifa.
The inaugural Cecafa Womena��s Challenge Cup will be staged by the Federation of Uganda Football Association.
Cecafa is the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations, an association of the football playing nations in East and Central Africa, and is an affiliate of the Confederation of African Football (Caf).
Zimbabwe, Namibia and Malawi have been invited as guest nations and if Zifa avails funds for the Mighty Warriors, the team will travel for the competition pencilled for Kampala from 11-24 September.
Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan, South Sudan, Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia and hosts Uganda are among the participants.
Eritrea, Zanzibar, Somalia, Djibouti and Zanzibar, the other Cecafa members, are yet to confirm.
a�?A majority of Cecafa members have confirmed participation and we have also invited Zimbabwe, Namibia and Malawi as guest nations. We are busy hunting for sponsors to come on board so that we can have a successful event,a�? Uganda football president Moses Magogo told local media.
In November the Mighty Warriors will take part in the Africa Women Cup of Nations in Cameroon from 19 November to 14 December.
Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela said he was yet to receive the invitation but added that the football mother body remained committed to exposing national teams to regional and international tournaments.
