MILTON High School won their own organised schools volleyball tournament last weekend. They showed strenghth enough to beat a determined Induna Secondary School. Milton 25-23 and 25-19 in the two sets played. The school hosted volleyball, basketball and soccer with schools such as Nkulumane, Ihlathi, Founders, Regina Mundi, St James, Minda, Montrose, Empandeni, Northlea, Magwegwe, Mpopoma, Townsend, Eveline, Induna and Sikhulile fighting for honours.
The final, which was played in relative poor light, was a battle of titans. Induna relied on physical prowess while Milton were relying on their mental strength.
In the girls’ volleyball tournament, Mpopoma dismissed Regina Mundi 2-0. Regina Mundi started out impressively but the girls showed signs of weariness which Mpopoma capitalised on and scooped first prize.
Giants Eveline were given a taste of their own medicine when they fell to Regina Mundi in the first semi-final before Townsend fell to Mpopoma.
