THE annual Mimosa Golf Day tees off at Rowland Park golf club with a large field expected this morning.
The event has since become an annual event and has graced the calendar for several years now.Several golfers will take part in the four-ball-better-ball format with a field of more than 60 players expected to battle.
Meanwhile, the Hwange Charferly Open continues with the final two rounds after yesterday’s Pro-Am.
The event is held by the mining company to bring together some of their business partners together and create an open social platform.
The event, under the Zambezi Tour, is sponsored by Hwange Charfley in conjuction with Colliery Company Limited and the Hwange Open Organising Committee.
The tournament has a $15 000 purse and the Pro-Am yesterday saw a single professional play with three amateurs.
Registration for players closed on Monday and the Zambezi Tour said they have a fair field.
The local professionals had less than five domestic tournaments this season after the postponement of the Lowveld Pro-am.
Zambezi tour marketing and communications director Tendai Gwatiringa said they had a strong field yesterday and the course is challenging.
“The entries closed on Monday and a strong field of 41 professionals has registered which will make the field strong,” Gwatiringa said.
South Africans – John Bele, Patrick Tshabangu, Tebogo Sefatsa and Thabang Simon – and Zambia’s Madalitso Muthiya have registered to play in the tournament.
Robson Saurombe is the defending champion.
