Miners invited to SA summit

The Zimbabwe Miners’ Federation (ZMF) is a representative body of small-scale miners in the country.

He said their members were invited to attend the Mine Managers Summit, which was being organised by a firm called All Sectors Business Communications.

“We are encouraging our members from all the regions to attend the summit because it is there that they will meet a lot of potential investors to form strategic partnerships with. They will also get an opportunity to learn a lot of aspects as issues on productivity and profitability, operational excellence, skills development, expansion project strategies, sustainable mining and mining planning will be discussed.

“The summit will be held at Sun City Hotel and Resort in Rustenburg from the 5th to the 7th of September,” said Mr Kaguru.

He said so far 15 ZMF members had confirmed that they will attend the summit.

“We are looking forward to seeing between five and 10 members or even more per region participating at the event. If all the country’s mining regions are represented by our members, ZMF is assured that when participants arrive back from the summit they will impart the knowledge learnt to their colleagues.

“Interested members can contact my office for other details,” he said.

Mr Kaguru said ZMF had been invited at the summit because the body was considered to have the best structures for small-scale miners in the Sadc.

“As you might be aware, funding is one of the major challenges our members are facing. ZMF is earmarking to use this platform to meet potential investors and discuss possible areas for strategic joint ventures.”

According to an invitation addressed to the ZMF by the organisers of the event, it is hoped that the summit would provide management with best practices to overcome the present global mining challenges.

This will be done through the use of workable solutions and effective strategies to optimise the operation, productivity and profitability of mining companies.

“This summit will discuss and provide amicable solutions to challenges facing the industry by bringing together all the stakeholders to address and suggest alternative solutions that mine managers can adopt in response.

“The event shall also be a platform to develop a framework for improved collaboration as a way to streamline mining operations, vault regulatory hurdles and strengthen both government and community relations,” reads part of the invitation.
