Mining operations suspended

32-year old employee, whose name was not immediately given, was on duty when the tragedy struck.
Midlands Regional Mining Engineer, Engineer Tapererwa Paswavaviri confirmed the death of the Primrose Mine employee recently.

“I can confirm the death of an employee at Primrose Mine after he allegedly fell into a mine shaft on Monday afternoon.

He was retrieved while still alive but died on his way to Kwekwe District Hospital.  Eng Paswavaviri said the ministry moved in and ordered the mine to immediately suspend operations.

“We have visited the site and ordered the mine to suspend its operations so that they can attend to some of the health and safety issues at the mine,” he said.
