A MAJOR housing development is in progress in Seke, where the Government and a private developer are busy servicing stands with roads, water and sewer connections before selling them at affordable prices.
Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Advocate Itayi Ndudzo commended the Second Republic under President Mnangagwafor its commitment to providing quality and affordable housing.
Adv Ndudzo recently visited Dunottar Farm in Seke, where the Government is developing about 11 000 housing stands for youths. Leengate Contractors is servicing the stands in stages with the first phase nearing completion.
Adv Ndudzo also toured Tantalon Estate, where Pinnacle Property Holdings is working to provide 20 000 low-cost housing stands, similarly developing the area in phases. By midyear, the two developments should see a total of more than 5 500 stands ready for allocation.
Adv Ndudzo expressed optimism about the housing developments, emphasising the positive changes in Mashonaland East.
“We are elated, especially with the paradigm shift taking place in the Second Republic. Seke has faced challenges with illegal settlements, but now plans are in place for local authorities to collaborate with established property developers,” he said.
Leengate’s first phase aims to provide 2 500 stands while Pinnacle will deliver more than 3 000 at Tantalon Estates.
Adv Ndudzo was assured that the housing projects would feature complete infrastructure, managed by the local authority and beneficiaries will be drawn from the Manyame Rural District Council housing waiting list.
