Minister of State for Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Marian Chombo has challenged Government officials to improve planning and accountability to drive the province towards Vision 2030.

Minister Chombo highlighted key growth drivers in the province including agriculture through irrigation development, mining, value addition, tourism, infrastructure development and human capital growth.

She noted that performance contracts to be signed by Ministries, Departments and Agencies, were a shared commitment to national development goals.

Local authorities, were urged to improve citizen engagement, transparency and service delivery. She also called for a high-performance culture anchored in ethics, accountability and results.

The strategic plan will be aligned with provincial ministries’ plans, the Provincial Economic Development Plan and the National Development Strategy 2.

The strategic workshop, which is also expected to discuss the transition from National Development Strategy 1 (NDS-1) to NDS-2, noting the successes, challenges, and recommendations of the earlier strategy, is being attended by officials from ministries, departments and agencies in the province.
