Minister Mavetera opens Chivi Community Information Centre

ICT, Postal and Courier Services Minister Tatenda Mavetera has officially opened a Community Information Centre and a Public Finance Management System Kiosk at Chivi Growth Point.

The opening of the information centre at Chivi Growth Point coincided with joint commemorations marking the World Post Day and International Day for Universal Access to Information.

Accompanying her is the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Mr Nick Mangwana and Zimbabwe Media Commission chairperson Dr Ruby Magosvongwe.

The Public Management System Kiosk will be used by Government departments across Chivi and is part of the Second Republic’s drive to enhance accountability, transparency and efficiency in sync with Vision 2030.

Minister Mavetera said Government wants ensure that all parts of Zimbabwe have access to reliable and affordable internet and mobile phone connectivity in line with President Mnangagwa’s vision of transforming Zimbabwe into an upper middle income society by 2030.

She disclosed that more community information centres will be opened in line with the President’s leaving no one and no place behind philosophy.

She challenged people in rural and semi-rural communities to embrace the use of latest and modern ICTs to enhance their learning and upgrade their skills.

At least 14 new community information centres under construction around Zimbabwe as the Second Republic entrenches access to ICTs.
