Health and Child Care Minister Dr Douglas Mombeshora is visiting Matope Clinic in Mt Darwin, Mashonaland Central, where there have been recurring cholera outbreaks over the past months.

The province has had four outbreaks since last year and to date, cumulatively has been 340 cases and eight deaths.

To date, six out of eight districts in the province have recorded cholera cases.

Most of the cases reported in the province are emanating from small-scale miners working along Mazowe River.

In the current outbreak, Bindura urban is the hotspot and the major drivers besides mining include unserviced settlements and the absence of water reticulation, which forces people to dig shallow wells.
