“Improving Mining through continuous Dialogue, Infrastructure and Financing”.
More than 500 delegates expected at the indaba will be briefed on the country’s strategic plan for the mining industry.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development Mr Prince Mupazviriho is also expected to make a presentation on the overview of policy developments in Zimbabwe’s mining industry.
Discussions at the indaba whose focus is on infrastructure and finance will also be centred on diamond policy and the Diamond Act, Amendments to the Mines and Minerals Act and the beneficiation strategy.
Chamber of Mines president Mr Winston Chitando will update the delegates on the performance of the mining industry in Zimbabwe, prospects and potential mining opportunities as well as systems for conducting business.
Utho Capital chief executive Ms Sheila Galloway said discussions would focus on infrastructure and finance because they were integral to the success of any economy propelled by the mining industry.
The indaba, which is now a permanent feature and international event, will also be attended by chief executive officers from different chamber of mines within the region.
“Their discussions will be centred on issues that include an overview of the mining sectors in their respective countries, strategy and future of mining in the region, and changes in mining policies.
“Coal discussions will also come under the spotlight with an overview of the coal industry developments in the region and globally. Other issues include why the markets need Zimbabwe’s coal, opportunities for coal mining in Zimbabwe and emerging coal miners in Zimbabwe,” he said.
Papers on regional integration of infrastructure development in Zimbabwe and the region will also be presented.
