Macheso signed the document that will grant him the powers to begin his ambassadorial role, earning himself showers of praise from the Minister of Media Information and Publicity Cde Webster Shamu, who is also the patron of the Zimbabwe Union of Musicians.
Minister Shamu, who was the guest of honour, was accompanied by his wife and several other dignitaries from the Zimbabwe Red Cross said Macheso’s success was merely through his hard work and his religious principles.
“I am happy to see a musician doing such big things like Macheso’s endorsement deals especially his ambassadorial role. Macheso is really a hard working man, God fearing, down to earth and he is not pompous,” said the Minister.
The glamorous event was also graced by several top musicians who included the Chimbetu brothers, Suluman and Tryson, controversial dancer Seleman “Majuice” Mpochi and one of Zimbabwe’s leading promoters Patson “Chipaz” Chimbodza.
Sulu saluted Macheso, adding that he has been a pillar of strength.
He also took the opportunity to clear the air on the perceived rivalry between the two.
“Regai ndipe mdara sando dzavo ndakamirira vaimbi vose vanotevera mumashure maambassador. I respect him so much and we wish him the very best of luck all the way,” said Sulu.

Speaking on the sidelines, ambassador Macheso expressed gratitude for Sulu’s appreciation of his role in the music, adding that the young man was fast maturing.
“I am happy to see this young man coping very well musically and even mentally. He is showing that he has matured from the time he entered the music sector and we are also hoping that he will be remain consistent,” he said.
Minister Shamu thanked Red Cross Zimbabwe, ZimCafe and CellOne electronics which handed Macheso with a Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Meanwhile, Macheso left for the United Kingdom yesterday where he would hold two shows, meet with some officials from Red Cross before returning home.
