Minter wins Matabeleland Strokeplay

was played at Harry Allen Golf Club in Bulawayo over the weekend.
The Chapman based golfer carded 80 and 71 for an overall 151 to bag her third straight win of the season.
Minter has managed to win all the three women tournaments that were played this season.
The golfer now playing off a four handicap got the better of 48 other golfers who took to the field at one of the country’s oldest golf clubs.
National team player Acy Zerf was second after scoring 77 and 75 for an overall 152.
Zerf of Bulawayo Golf Club is playing off 11 handicap and could not utilise home advantage to win the third tournament of the season.
Aulia Alfazema playing off 10 handicap was third after the two rounds when she carded 73 and 80 to continue the dominance of Chapman golfers in most local tournaments.
The three golfers were the core of the national team events last year showed they are still on top of their game.
Brenda Lieppe who gave Minter a good run in some of last year tournaments was fourth with scores of 76 and 78.
Loice Chingono of Wingate Park Golf club finished on 76 and 80 to come out fifth while upcoming junior golfer Batsirai Tilokwati was sixth on 81 and 76.
Veteran Jessie Nyakatawa was on seventh with scores of 74 and 84 for a 158 gross score.
The Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union public relations officer Helen van Ransburg was happy with the turn out at the Matabeleland Strokeplay.
“We had a good tournament considering that the season has just begun and the girls are really enjoying their game.
“We look forward to some competitive tournaments in future.
“The ZLGU has started the season well and only lack of sponsorship may let our golfers down as we look forward to a great season,” said Ransburg.
