THE beauty of models on the ramp should sometimes be given to fashion designers.

The designers are creative and artistic in such a way that the models end up looking stunning.

This year, the stakes looked higher than ever, as the competition promised not just beauty but a celebration of culture and innovation.

Each designer had a task to create a unique gown that would not only dazzle the judges but also tell a story about Zimbabwe’s rich heritage.

The dresses glowed under the lights, each one a true reflection to the creative spirit of Zimbabweans.

Lyshanda Moyo was crowned the queen, Onesimo Nkomo was the first runner-up and second runner-up was Rumbidzai Muzopa.

However, it was a super night for multi-award winning designer Ishmael Tsakatsa, founder of Zargue’sia, who scored big by designing the evening gowns for the Miss Universe 2025 Queen and first runner-up, Onesimo.

Lyshanda chose a stunning apple green long sleeved sweeping-the-floor length corset mermaid gown featuring rhinestone and crystal embellishments in silver and green.

Onesimo went for a dazzling lilac crystal and rhinestone beaded strapless corset mermaid gown paired up with a dramatic sweeping-floor length cape.

“The inspiration behind these dresses was a reflection of the inner beauty in a woman of grace and excellence coupled by a romanticism of royalty, opulence and elegance,” said Tsakadza.

“I feel humbled and honoured to be part of the success stories of these winners and it was an opportunity for us to show our amazing creations and masterpieces on the Miss Universe platform to the world at large,” he said.

Abiot Malawa of the Nandi_larethi brand feels honoured to have showcased his products.

He designed a gold evening gown for Chiedza Mhosva.

“Designing for one of the contestants at the Miss Universe was both a privilege and a deeply personal creative journey.

“My inspiration came from the idea of empowered elegance a celebration of African strength, femininity, and radiance on a global stage.

“The gold dress was designed to embody triumph, resilience and regal beauty.

“Gold was not just a colour choice it was a statement.

“It symbolises victory, royalty and the unshakable brilliance of a woman who knows her worth.

“Every curve, stitch and shimmer in the dress was intended to echo both the power and grace of the woman wearing it,” he said.

He added:

“I wanted the gown to feel timeless yet bold.

“Something that would captivate, not just through design, but through a story a story of a queen rising, representing her heritage and leaving a golden impression in the hearts of many.”

Charlie Designer designed for Samukeliso Dhlamini.

“It’s a great privilege working with Miss Universe Zimbabwe.
