New Miss Universe Zimbabwe to be crowned tomorrow
All is set for the Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2024 beauty pageant at the Hippodrome in Braeside, Harare, tomorrow.
The glamorous event will see 18 girls competing for the coveted title, with the winner walking away with cash prizes and a Mercedes Benz C200 vehicle courtesy of Style by Minnie.
It is a red carpet show running under the “Met Gala,” concept and will be hosted by media personalities Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa and MisRed.
On the entertainment line-up, guests will treated to the live performances by Enzo Ishall, ShaSha, and Tamy Moyo.
Janet Manyowa hosts “Worship Moments.”
Gospel songstress Janet Manyowa is set to host “Worship Moments,” tomorrow at Agricultural Research Farm (ART Farm).
The spiritual gathering will see Manyowa sharing the stage with South African singer Ntokozo Mbambo. The event will run under the theme, “Prophetic Fulfilment Zadzisa” and guests are expected to dress in their “browns” — farm style.
Doors open at 4pm, and attendees are invited to experience communal worship and musical excellence.
The event underscores Art Farm’s commitment to enriching the community through powerful, live worship experiences.
Mixed bag at Seasons album launch
The stage is set for rhythm and blues artiste Trevor Dongo as he is scheduled to launch his seventh album at Long Cheng Plaza tomorrow.
The 12-track album is titled “Seasons” and the launch will see a number of local musicians taking to the stage.
Some of the artistes billed to perform include Nyasha David, Bryan K, Baba Harare, Ammara Brown, Fusion 5 Mangwiro, Madiz, DJ Spice, Handsome Gudo, Jonah Chivasa, and Shayne.
In an interview, Dongo said there was a time for everything and chance happens to all of us.
“I decided to name the album ‘Seasons’ because of the vibe that each song carries. All the songs on the album are suitable for each season.”
The musician appreciated fellow artistes who worked with him on this project and contributed to its success, keeping their identities a mystery.
“I have collaborated with a lot of super talented artistes but I’m going to keep it a secret for now,” he said.
Killer T reignites romance with Mbare fans.
Zimdancehall musician Kelvin Kusikwenyu, better known by his stage name Killer T, is set to host the sequel of “Back to My Roots,” show after the first one proved to be a success.
Running under the theme, “Takazvarirwa Mughetto,” Killer T narrates how he remains true to his ghetto roots despite being successful in life.
The musician who became a fan favourite with his song “Makarova Ganaz,” has since evolved and is making waves with his latest offering “Ndanyura.”
As a way to connect and give back to his community, Killer T has invited fellow musicians including Seh Calaz, Silent Killer, Kinnah, Bling 4, Hwindi President and Ndunge Yut to perform.
On decks, there will be seasoned dancehall chanters Godfather Templeman, Etherton B, Abisha Palmer, the Chillspot family and many more.
Mental Health Awareness week
wraps with a 5km walk
Star FM concludes its week-long Mental Health Foundation with a 5km walk scheduled to start at Alex Sports Club tomorrow. .
The event is running under the theme, “Movement for our mental health,” and will be hosted by radio personalities Nikki and ET.
In an interview Star FM programming manager, Steve Vickers, invited everyone to be part of the walk tomorrow.
The week ends on Sunday.
“Let us walk together in solidarity and support mental health awareness in our communities. Wellness checks and mental health consultations will be offered upon completion of the walk to those interested.
“This year, we want participants to find something that moves their body and mind. Being physically active is great for our bodies and our minds.”
Vickers highlighted the need to exercise as it reduces anxiety and depression.
People living with mental illness die on average 20 years younger than the general population, often from avoidable physical illness.
Vickers expressed gratitude to service providers for their assistance.
“Thank you to Generation Health, who will be offering wellness support on mental health, as well as dental, prostate cancer, glucose, optical, body minerals content, and BMI checks among others,” he said.
Catchy affair in Kariba
Offroad Gardens in Kariba plays host to “Madiro” hit-maker, Kae Chaps, and Progress Chipfumo tomorrow.
Kae Chaps, real name Kudakwashe Chapepa, has continued to impact the airwaves ever since breaking into the scene with “Juzi,” a break up song. His star has continued to shine brighter with every release.
Veteran musician Chipfumo is set to thrill fanatics with his yesteryear hits as well some of his recent songs.
Despite being low key, Chipfumo has, however, been conducting shows nationwide entertaining fans yonder the limelight while maintaining a low profile.
Evangelist Timothy unveils
seventh album
Praise and worship sensation Evangelist Timothy will unveil his seventh album titled “Muridzi Webhuku” tomorrow at Joina City’s Ster-Kinekor theatre at in Harare.
An array of gospel musicians, including Bethan Pasinawako, Rumbie Zvirikuzhe, Munyaradzi Munodawafa, Toxx, Brian Ngolomi, Apostle Sambo, and Pastor Wenyasha Vhenge, will perform at the event.
Lyton Ngolomi produced the album.
The album is laden with seven songs – “Minana Ichiriko”, “Hakuna Anouya”, “Jesu Aramba” featuring Chief Hwenje, “Jesu Vakasayina” (feat Munyaradzi Munodawafa), “Musavarairwa” (feat Toxx and Max Pain, “Rumbidzwai” (feat Minister Normal J) and the title track, “Muridzi Webhuku”.
Evangelist Timothy, who is an active member of City Gate Assemblies, is banking on the support of his church.
“I am grateful to my church which has been supporting me each time that I release new songs.
“I will be launching my seventh album and it will be more of a family affair. I wish other churches could do the same and support gospel musicians who are members of their congregations when they launch their albums.
“I am one of the artists who is determined to change other people’s lives through music. “I will continue working hard to reach the Promised Land,” said Evangelist Timothy.
Quonfuzed ‘Yeah’ Tour lands in
Sandton
Having embarked on his tour on May 11 at New Light Club, Boksburg musician Quonfuzed’s road map takes him to Sandton for a pre-birthday launch tomorrow.
The Joburg edition of the private party is set to pay homage to on-rotation DJs Gig Nonny, Runie, Don Family (CPT), and many more.
With amapiano, dancehall, afro-beat, and hip-hop dominating, the pre-birthday celebrations come at a time when the musician is launching his brand “Ndururani.”
Next weekend the musician will be in Gaborone, Botswana, for an Africa Day Show at Lifestyle Gardens on May 25.
Unity in Rhythm: Uhuru Festival Marks 30 Years of Democracy in SA
The Uhuru International Festival set to rock Durban under the theme “Music Meets Fashion,” will celebrate a significant milestone, 30 years of democracy in South in South Africa.
Presented by Wishvini, the festival will feature a mix of performances from artistes such as Ray Mupats of Zimbabwe and YommySky of Nigeria.
Attendees will experience a blend of rhythmic tunes and African fashion, symbolizing unity across the continent. Participants from South Africa, Congo, Nigeria and Kenya will take part in the festivities.
