Inspired by the mighty baobab—our eternal shelter, silent ancestor, and symbol of ancestral fire—Miss Universe Zimbabwe Lyshanda Moyas’ costume is more than just a garment.
It is a living story, woven from the very fibres of the baobab tree, telling who we are, where we come from, and what burns within us.
The baobab:
Roots: deep in the earth, grounding us in resilience.
Trunk: strong, holding the weight of generations.
Arms: wide and welcoming, embracing all who come.
Heart: alive with fire, transforming without destroying.
Colours of fire:
Black: for the black majority of our land.
Red: for the enduring bloodline of our people.
Orange: for transformation, the flames that refine.
The tail:
Crafted from baobab fibres sustainably sourced from its bark, naturally dyed in rich, fiery tones—a tribute to the unbreakable bond between our land, our nature, and our spirit.
The form of strength:
The silhouette mirrors the baobab itself—rooted, strong, expansive, and generous. Like the baobab, it grows in wisdom, shelters, feeds, and heals, carrying the essence of Zimbabwe in every fibre.
