A cloud of mystery surrounds the death of National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) employee, Mr Shingirai Chikosha, whose body was discovered in Norton days after he was reported missing.

Mr Chikosha, who was employed as a driver, had been missing since March 13, 2026, which resulted in a mass search by colleagues, family and the wider community.

His disappearance had raised concern within legal circles, although there was hope that he would be found alive.

However, the optimism was dashed when his body was later recovered in Norton under unclear circumstances.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe confirmed the development in a statement, while expressing deep sorrow over the loss of their staff member.

“The authority regretfully informs members of the public that Mr Shingirai Chikosha, who had been reported missing since March 13, 2026, has been found deceased in Norton,” the statement read.

Police have since opened investigations into the case, with the Zimbabwe Republic Police indicating that all leads are being pursued to establish what transpired between the time of his disappearance and the discovery of his body.

Authorities appealed to members of the public who may have information that could assist in piecing together the events leading to his death to come forward.

While details remain scant, the case has sparked widespread concern, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and whether foul play may have been involved.

Colleagues described Mr Chikosha as a committed member of the justice delivery system, making his sudden death not only a personal tragedy but also a significant loss to the institution.

The NPAZ also acknowledged the support rendered by individuals and organisations during the search period, thanking those who stood with the family in the days of uncertainty.
