CO-FOUNDER of South Africa’s gospel choir Joyous Celebration, Lindelani Mkhize, would be in Bulawayo today to train Harvest House International Church (HHIC) choirs over the weekend ahead of the church’s annual Clash of Choirs in August.
Mkhize is set to arrive this afternoon to share his expertise with six choirs from the church’s branches in the country at the HHIC upper auditorium from 8AM to 10PM tomorrow.
The Clash of Choirs will be held at the ZITF Hall 4, on August 30, on the last day of the Apostolic and Prophetic conference, which runs from August 24. This conference is set to draw several speakers that include Bishop Dag Howard Mills, Bishop Chiwaka, and Bishop Musa Sono.
Thirteen choirs from the church will compete for the first prize-money of $50,000, second prize of $20,000, third prize $10,000 and consolation prizes of $1,000.
Last year Harvest Tabernacle Choir won first place.
Mkhize will be one of the judges alongside Pastor Charles Charamba and Rachel Jera Chigwanda, a director at the Zimbabwe College of Music.
HHIC public relations and marketing officer Elder Philip Phiri said Mkhize would share his vast expertise in music.
“His training session will be four hours each for each hub choir. The hope is that he’ll apply his expertise in a number of areas including toning, band integration and synergy with the choir, choir directing, vocal ability among other things.
“The objective of the annual concert is to ensure a gradual positive change in the quality of music while identifying and developing talent within the church thus investing back into the ministry,” said Phiri.
He said through such exchanges gospel stars such as Takesure Zamar have been born and taken the nation by storm.
“This training being done by Lindelani is a testimony of the church’s commitment to develop its congregants and all people that need salvation in their area of calling and empower them to live successful lives in their area of expertise.
“One such living testimony is Takesure Zamar Ncube. His song is now being played on international Television and Radio station,” said Phiri.
He said members of the public were allowed to come and watch Mkhize at work.
“The church is open to anyone who needs salvation, all people are welcome to be delivered, taught the true word of God, empowered, groomed, trained and fed the true Gospel of Jesus Christ at no cost at all. One needs to come and they’ll find all the assistance they require spiritually at Harvest House,” said Phiri.
