Mkoba man brutally murdered

A 25-year-old man from Mkoba 12 in Gweru was allegedly stabbed to death by unknown assailants who later dumped his body by the roadside near Mkoba 16.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Joel Goko confirmed the incident which he said occurred in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

Insp Goko said the body of Victor Gondo was found with several deep lacerations suggesting that he could have been murdered adding that police have since launched a manhunt for the suspected killers.

“I can confirm that we are investigating a murder case in which a 25-year-old man from Mkoba 12 was found dead by the roadside near Mkoba 16 suburb in Gweru. The case is being treated as murder after the victim was found with stab wounds all over the body.

“It is suspected that he was attacked by unknown assailants who later dumped his body by the road side.

“The victim was discovered by people passing through on Sunday morning lying in a pool of blood. We are still carrying out investigations and we will avail more details once we get a comprehensive report of the circumstances,” he said.

Insp Goko appealed to members of the public who have information regarding the circumstances surrounding Gondo’s death or the whereabouts of the suspects to report to any nearest police station.
