adminAddressing hundreds of people during the donation of an ambulance and groceries worth thousands of dollars to Mpilo Central Hospital, President Mugabe urged Zimbabweans to be patient and join hands with the Government in fighting the adverse effects of sanctions, which led to insufficient funding for the health sector and other Government departments.
“We are aware that often our institutions expect us as Government to support them. Yes, that is what we are there to do. We are going through difficult times because of sanctions that have reduced our economy to ashes,” said President Mugabe.
He urged Zimbabweans to be initiative and work together to ensure that the country wins the battle against sanctions. President Mugabe commended Mr Raj Modi, the owner of Sai Enterprises, which runs a chain of supermarkets in Bulawayo, for extending his help to the poor.
“Thank you very much to Mr Modi and his family and their business, which has yielded this donation. I also commend Vice President John Nkomo for facilitating the donation,” he said.
Mr Modi donated an ambulance, blankets and groceries worth thousands of dollars to the hospital.
His wife, Mrs Parul Modi, also donated groceries worth $10 000 to the First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe’s orphanage in Mazowe.
Mr Modi said the donation was a token of appreciation for the support that the Bulawayo community has given to his business.
Meanwhile, President Mugabe donated 10 sets of computers to Sobukhazi High School of Mzilikazi.
